The five welfare needs for cats: understanding behaviour – cats for kids

Meet Felix and Rosie.
Their owners must follow the five welfare needs. These can be remembered as ‘PURRS’. The U of ‘PURRS’ means Understanding behaviour. Felix scratches his post to leave his
smell and mark where he lives. Rosie loves hunting. Unlike wild cats, she
does not need to do this to survive. But it’s a natural behaviour. It is also a
great form of exercise. Felix and Rosie feel safe when they have a litter tray
in a quiet place indoors. Remember to keep it clean. Bye, Felix! Bye, Rosie!
