How does change happen? How do you take a system that’s not working, where people are not thriving, and build something different. We start with good food. Over the years, we’ve learned that food is an incredible tool for building health, belonging, and social justice. Today, we’re working with more than 120 low-income communities across Canada. To bring people together to grow, cook, share, and advocate for good food. Far too many of our neighbours struggle to put food on the table. They’re disproportionately affected by health problems like diabetes, heart disease, and depression. Our social safety net is failing too many Canadians. And it’s costing us all. We can choose to be paralyzed by these issues, and let them magnify, for future generations, or we can act. and start building the future we need to see. At community Food Centres Canada, we’re working in neighbourhoods across the country to build welcoming, dignified places where people can walk through the doors, sit down, and share a great meal with others. Places that build hope and self-worth, and make room for people to contribute and lead. That empower people to take control of their health and well-being. Places that support people to talk about the issues that affect their lives, and work together to make positive change in their communities and country. We need to find the courage to channel our outrage into possibility. You know how change happens? When you fight for it. Together, we’re fighting for a healthier and more inclusive Canada. Join us and find out what we can do together.
