Labels kinda scared me for a long time. For a really long time, actually. You know what – actually, okay.
At the time I was living in
Michigan with my mom and stepdad. My mom brought me into the living room
and kinda was just asking me, “Do you like anyone at school?”
And I kinda had no answer for her… And, she was confused by that
because, i mean, every kid has a crush. and I didn’t have one. But that night, those words sunk into my mind. That was the first time that I actually thought about it.. I always kind of had the thought,
“Why do people even need to label themselves?” “Like, why is that even a thing?”
I didn’t realize that it was such a big deal Life is not about hiding – Life is about living. And it’s not easy to hide, nor should you ever hide. Because the day that you’re comfortable with yourself
is the day you start living. I think people like to identify
themselves with labels because it gives them a sense of belonging. and each and every person is different and that’s something to celebrate rather than separate. behind all these labels we are all human and we all share similar needs and desires Those are: “Love” “Respect” “Equality” “Community” “Acceptance” “Support” and the ability to pursue our dreams. “My name is –
Lauren Giraldo, Justin Johnes Andrea Russett, Shanna Malcolm, Electra Formosa” “I am Latina” “I am Hungarian” “我是中国人” “Soy Italiano” “I am Christian” “I am Jewish” “I am Gay” “I am Straight” “I’m a Woman” “I am a Feminist” “I’m Frankie” I am human, we all are.
